Sell / Exchange
Will you price and accept any bike?

Unfortunately not, bikes need to be of a certain value to warrant the costs of shipping, mechanical inspection, photography etc. As a general guide we're only likely to price bikes that cost more than £1500 new. We also love classic bikes that have been looked after. We are specialists in road, time trial bikes and cross bikes. However we will consider any bike if you are looking to part exchange.

Does my bike have to be in perfect condition to get a quote?
No as long as you describe every defect we can still price it assuming the general guide above is adhered to.

How do you price the bikes for sale?

We consider the following factors before making an offer for a bike – price when new, demand & supply of make and model, condition of bike and estimated age, components with any wear and tear factored in. We also sweep prices from all online marketplaces, retailers, shops, direct distributors for most up to date pricing.

Does my bike need to be cleaned and serviced prior to sending?

Cleaning is recommended as it means the provisional price will be more likely to match the final price. If the bike is dirty it will potentially be hiding issues that need to be priced in to the quote. We service all the bikes before sale anyway so servicing not essential although a well looked after and serviced bike is likely to get a better price.

Why is the first quoted price only provisional?

We need to check the bike is sound mechanically and that the detail on the sale form matches the bike when we inspect it. Any defects not described will need to be reflected in the final price.

What if I can't bring the bike into the store?

You can get the bike packed up securely and we will organise a courier to collect. When the bike arrives at Road Cycle Exchange we will inspect and either give you a call if any issue with condition or description, or transfer funds as agreed.

How do I get paid?

We transfer the money via bank transfer when the bike is dropped or collected.

What is your Complaints Policy?

Please call the store 020 8546 8289 and register your complaint verbally. Alternatively you can write to Any complaint will be responded to within 48 hours and all complaints are reviewed (and responded to if necessary) by a Director.
