Bolide - Italian for Missile

Bolide - Italian for Missile

Is this the UK’s most expensive used bike?

Italian for “Missile”, the Bolide is the bike Chris Froome has repeatedly ridden to TdF Time Trial victories. Designed with input from British Cycling’s Dimitris Katsanis the frame geometry is right at the limits of the 3:1 ratio the UCI’s rules allow. Fully integrated brakes (though still fitted in conventional positions) and wide fork legs show their origins in Team GBs bikes from the 2012 Olympics. The airfoil tube sections used offer the lowest aerodynamic drag in all wind conditions and in some conditions actually generate forward thrust(!). As you’d expect it comes with a bar and stem seamlessly integrated into the frame to maximise the aerodynamic benefits.

A frame like this needs to be matched with a good wheels and ours comes with probably the ultimate Time Trial Disc wheel: the Lightweight Autobahn. Legend has it that Lightweight don’t sponsor teams but their products are so good teams buy and use them at their own cost. It’s the stiffest, lightest disc wheel on the market at under 800g, handmade in very small numbers in Lightweights climate controlled factory in Germany. How to describe them? In Lightweight’s words, let's start with a few keywords: propulsion, speed, aerodynamics, lightness, toughness and agility. The word “compromise”, however, does not feature at all in this list.

That combination isn’t going to be cheap and the retail price when new was a staggering £15600. Without a groupset. Our 52cm frame has been used in just three time trials so is in near new condition and we’re offering it at a saving of £4500.
